To honour the Bicentenary of the birth of Charles Dickens, the Department of English Studies at our Faculty had the pleasure of hosting a public lecture by Professor Michael Hollington on Wednesday, 7th November, at 2 p.m., in B 172, the Lecture Theatre in Building B.

Michael Hollington is emeritus Professor of English of the University of Toulouse-Le Mirail II as well as of the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. He is the editor of the volume The Reception of Charles Dickens in Europe, forthcoming in 2013 as part of the British Academy-funded research project The Reception of British and Irish Authors in Europe (edited by Elinor Shaffer). He also edited Charles Dickens: Critical Assessments (1996) and is the author of Dickens and the Grotesque (1984) and of a monograph on Günter Grass.
