The Embassies of Portugal, Angola, and Brazil in Budapest, in collaboration with the ELTE Department of Portuguese Language and Literature and the Camões Institute Budapest, are organizing the World Portuguese Language Day.

This all-day event is the most important occasion dedicated to promoting the Portuguese language and culture. The opening ceremony will feature welcome addresses by Dr. Ildikó Szijj, Head of the Department of Portuguese at ELTE, Dr. Dávid Bartus, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at ELTE, and H.E. José Filipe, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Angola to Hungary.

Following the opening, guests from Angola, Brazil, and Mozambique will give lectures on the present and future of the Portuguese language. The program continues with the launch of István Rákóczi’s book "False Memory Carved in Stone", a collection of the author's key articles and essays on Portuguese-language literature, history, and culture. At the end of the lectures, audience members who answer questions correctly will have the chance to win various prizes.

After the program, guests are invited to a buffet lunch featuring a variety of delicacies from the culinary traditions of Portuguese-speaking countries. The day will conclude with the New African Style fashion show, presenting garments made from Angolan and other African fabrics designed by fashion designer Krisztina Sólyom.
