Socially responsible linguistics: Resling 3.
International conference series on topics of applied linguistics with English and Hungarian sessions.

Organized by the ELTE Department of Applied Linguistics and Phonetics, the ELTE Intercultural Linguistics Doctoral Program, the ELTE Applied Linguistics Doctoral Program, and the Hungarian Linguistics Society, this conference takes a broad approach to applied linguistics. It provides a platform for research that analyzes existing societal issues related to language use, linguistics, and communication, offering realistic solutions through linguistic methods and interdisciplinary perspectives.

Date: 27-28 November 2025
Venue: ELTE Faculty of Humanities, Trefort Garden (1088 Budapest, Múzeum körút 4.)

This year’s plenary speakers include María Pilar Agustín Llach (University of La Rioja), Elouise Botes (University of Luxembourg), and Zsófia Demjén (University College London).

Call for papers

Besides our teacher-researcher colleagues, we are also encouraging applications from PhD students. Participants can also propose thematic sections, workshops, and roundtable discussions.

Possible areas of focus include communication studies (manipulative language use, doctor-patient and teacher-student communication, emergency communication, etc.), forensic linguistics, economics, healthcare, trade, diplomacy, tourism, sports, education, language rights, IT, technical fields, natural sciences, and aviation safety, among others.
