As part of the Krasznahorkai Year, the Faculty of Humanities is organizing a three-day international conference in English, under the academic direction of Professor Tibor Gintli.
In addition to the Nobel Prize, László Krasznahorkai has received numerous prestigious international awards and honours. His works have been translated into more than forty languages, reaching readers and scholars across the world, while his oeuvre has attracted significant international attention. This far-reaching influence and reception, extending well beyond the boundaries of the Hungarian language, inspired the organizers of ELTE’s Krasznahorkai Year to hold an international literary studies conference in English, dedicated to a comprehensive scholarly examination of his work. The event aims to provide a shared forum for scholars approaching Krasznahorkai’s oeuvre from diverse linguistic, cultural and academic contexts.
Taking place from 10 to 12 November, the conference will bring together Hungarian scholars and speakers from nine European countries, with a total of twenty-seven presentations. The wide-ranging programme will cover topics from the international reception of Krasznahorkai’s work and interpretations of individual major works to broader assessments of his oeuvre.
The conference is open to the public, and everyone interested is warmly welcome.
