Main research areas
Media and penal populism
My research focuses on examining the relationship between the image of crime portrayed in the media and legislative practice, with particular emphasis on the changing function of criminal law. In my research, I pay particular attention to the role of populist criminal legislation in political narratives, in which legislation becomes a communication tool, meaning that its primary function is not to develop the legal system, but to reinforce the narrative of a particular political force and its impact on both the legal system and its practical implementation.
