Main research areas
The focus of my research is the development of Czech-Hungarian relations in the 19th century. I examine the image of Hungarians in Czech travelogues. I place emphasis on what topics they were concerned to, in what area of the country they visited and the historical situation, the extent of the relationship between the two nations influenced the development of their image of Hungarians and the thematic units affected by them. My aim is to define this branch of travel history and to involve its further research possibilities, also from the point of view of cultural history and Hungarian studies. In the case of 19th-century Czech travelers, we are in the fortunate position that many of the travelers who have visited Hungary are excellent artists of Czech literature, so their impact on the Hungarian image of the Czech nation is still significant today.
In addition, I actively examine the possibility of involving public collections, especially museums, in the teaching of Hungarian as a foreign language from a practical point of view, with the help of various programs, walks and museum visits.
